In 2015, all four incumbent Democrat politicians in the City of SeaTac were voted out of office by the people. Despite the fact that the incumbents outspent their challengers by 8 to 1, they still lost 60-40%. This is a short story about how no incumbent politicians should ever feel safe in their position. It is a story about how citizens can take back their local government even when the odds appear to be stacked against them.
We can’t abandon our cities to the terrible politicians and special interests that so often control the levers of power. If you are willing to organize, work hard, find good candidates, and not give up – you can do this where you live as well.
