Seattle is decaying while we watch. Politicians deny this fact, but they are happy to squander billions of dollars on the Homeless Industrial Complex to fix nothing and watch the problem get worse.

A few weeks ago, I drove around Seattle and recorded the obvious evidence of a city in decline and decay. Local politicians are in denial. What do you think? Better yet, go there yourself and see what you think after driving around and seeing for yourself. This is not a healthy trajectory for the city. What happens in Seattle never stays in Seattle. It spreads…

OUR CONSTITUTION BEGINS WITH THE PHRASE “WE THE PEOPLE.”  IT WAS THE FOUNDERS’ INTENT THAT GOVERNMENT BE CREATED BY THE PEOPLE, TO SERVE THE PEOPLE.  IT WASN’T THEIR INTENTION FOR THE PEOPLE TO SERVE THE GOVERNMENT.  IT WAS ALWAYS INTENDED THAT GOVERNMENT WHICH FAILED TO SERVE THE PEOPLE SHOULD BE “ALTERED OR ABOLISHED.”  UNTIL WE RETURN TO THE FOUNDER’S INTENT, WE REMAIN WE THE GOVERNED

Seattle is Dying

  1. Glen – Great video. So sad to see Seattle slide into complete decay. Recent decision by the State Building Code Council won’t help. Building codes updated to require more energy efficient housing estimated to raise building costs for SFR by $15,000-$25,000 per unit in Eastern Washington.(see Spokesman Review column by Sue Lani Madsen, Oct 21, 2020)

    • It has been estimated in the Puget Sound region that the cost of housing is effectively increased about $200k per house due to regulation and other artificial costs imposed by government. This was predicted, but it has been the story of boiling a frog slowly. It takes time. Each incremental increase is justified by something or at least sold to the politicians as important, or as a “solution.” Eventually, they price most people out of a home, or they make the goal of home ownership a very expensive and debt-fueled effort.

  2. ‘Corporate legal system’? You mean like having to pay your mortgage? Please explain how that has anything to do with homelessness.

  3. Glen, you are correct. Seattle is far along in decay. I lived there for 20 years, (’84-’05). I now travel there daily. It is a city that is falling apart at the seems. Homelessness is everywhere. All along I-90 tent cities can be seen. Many who have some money but no home are living in their RV’s off I-90 exits. Several RV’s being burned out and marked with graffiti not withstanding. As one who grew up in East Los Angeles I can honestly say that is what Seattle is becoming rapidly. A walk along Seattle’s waterfront one is constantly confronted with panhandlers, people sleeping on benches, and trash everywhere. It is sad to see. But anyone who has lived in Seattle and knows its history understands it is run by corrupt politicians and payoffs galore.

    • Unfortunately, this is a serious problem in Seattle right now and what happens in Seattle doesn’t stay there – it spreads to other places. Sorta like Covid…

  4. Hey Brother, Glen

Thanks for the “look see” for those of us w vehicles that may not make the trip! Comment for one NOT having seen for myself…your reference to homeless being druggies all. I realize there’s an incredible drug (legal or not) addiction problem in this state, nation; all, but u know too; our “tics”;politicians, corporate legal system deserves some of the credit for “un-housing” some folks just like u and me. We won’t go into facts re no one really “owns” their home…Just noting; yes, homeless issue exists big time but not necessarily all homeless being drug addicted. This homeless issue you’ve expanded on per many of your good vids. is so much more systemic with the reasons and results of it being far more nefarious than lost souls addicted to drugs -again emphasis on “legal” or not. I know u know this. Thanks for bringing the issue front with your efforts. Self government is the title for your blog. I’m pleased to suggest THAT is the solution…not “electing” or putting responsibility on another “fine other” to perpetuate the same useless system that exists…jus’ sayin’ thanks for the “platform ” to do so.
