Thurston County Democrat Party Official's death threats made KOMO TV news

In an interesting development on the recent voicemail death threat left by current Olympia Democrat PCO Laurian Weisser, various leaders in the Democratic Party have been forced to reluctantly come forward and disavow violence and threats of violence as part of their campaign strategy.  They should be commended for taking this brave step.

According to this Olympian article on Wednesday which included the excuse for the death threat in the title, Katie Nelson, the local Thurston County Democratic Party chair claimed that Mr. Weisser lost his re-election for Democratic Party Precinct Officer.  This implied that death threats are okay as long as the person issuing the threat is only a Democrat Party official for a few more months.  However, when KOMO news confronted her yesterday on camera she formally disavowed violence without qualification, which is a good step towards peace.

In the same article, former Former Washington State Democratic Party chairman Paul Berendt of Olympia claims that Mr. Weisser is the only one responsible for the death threats and the party doesn’t need to get involved.  He is right about it being Mr. Weisser’s responsibility, and I’m sure Mr. Brandt would prefer to not be involved.

According to an email received from Karen Deal, Executive Director of the Washington State Democrat Party received on November 2, she stated

“We received your message from our website contact form.  The Democratic Party does not condone violence or intimidation as an election tactic.  We understand from your correspondence that the specific matter to which you refer is the subject of a court action at this point and we assume will be dealt with appropriately by the court”

It was wonderful that the Washington State Democrat Party doesn’t officially condone violence as an election tactic.

Which left us with candidate Jim Cooper who most certainly distanced himself from Laurien Weisser with this Facebook “disavow” statement:

Jim Cooper made the brave decision to disavow violence in this Facebook post recently. This is a good step in the right direction

As I mentioned in the KOMO news story, and on the Todd Herman Show (770am KTTH, Seattle) yesterday, and KGMI radio (Bellingham), I am hoping that violence and threats of violence can become something that all parties, even the Democrat Party, refrain from in the future.

I am strongly opposed to the plague that Jim Cooper would bring upon those of us who would suffer under his reign as Thurston County Commissioner.  This is why we oppose his candidacy.  This is why we have exposed the truth about him to those who don’t know the truth.  However, most of his support is from people who live in cities and don’t need to be concerned about suffering at his hands.  The least they can do is refrain from threatening to kill those of us who are willing to speak the truth they refuse to hear.

Don’t forget to vote.  Locally, your vote matters the most.

The Democrat Party in Washington State is struggling to disavow violence, but their efforts are not going unnoticed. Some of us call this step true progress

  1. I’m beginning to think the real divide in this country is urban vs rural. There’s little understanding in urban areas of urban-centric policies would affect rural areas and, furthermore, they don’t care to understand. I believe the opposite is less likely to be true, as most news media push urban issues 24/7.
